In the interview, Dr. Kotak explains how BIEL’s products decrease the need for drugs in treating chronic pain. Our products “address a very large unmet need,” Dr. Kotak said, especially in treating chronic back and knee pain.”

Dr. Kotak said that a number of companies in the pain space expressed interest in the osteoarthritis knee data that is expected to be published Q2.

BIEL’s Executive Vice President explained the current situation with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (BIEL products are not currently cleared to market OTC, only with a prescription) and voiced optimism that positive step will occur this year.

Before joining BioElectronics, Dr. Kotak was Chief Medical Officer of a US medical device company as well as working with a couple of small private equity companies. Dr. Kotak brings a broad medical background and health care perspective to the Company, having practiced as a specialist in intensive care medicine, anesthesia and trauma in a London teaching hospital. He also practiced for four years as a civil lawyer. Dr. Kotak holds degrees in medicine from Oxford University and the University of London.
